Physical description: Danny looks exactly her mother did when she was alive in that she has her pale white skin that's heavily peppered with freckles and tends to easily burn, as well as her vibrant orange hair that's curly and usually unmanageable. She likes her hair to flow freely most of the time and typically brushes it once a week, if that. The one thing that Danny didn't get from her mother is her eyes though - she inherited those from her father. They're a dark blue that's often mistaken for brown and penetrating. One would think that Danny's staring directly into your sole with her intense eyes. Despite her supposed harsh features, when Danny smiles, she brightens the entire room. Her eyes appear softer and her smile makes others smile because it's rare around people she's not friends with (which happens to be most of the school). Unlike most girls her age, Danya is very tall and borderline anorexic-looking (although if one saw her eat they'd have no clue how she's so thin). She already stands at 5'8" and is still growing. She could easily pass for a senior due to her height and the fact that when Danny's all dolled up, she hardly looks 14.

When she's not in her school clothes, you'll find Danny in a pair of Converse high-tops, jeans and a t-shirt. She wears relatively plain clothes most of the time but occasionally she'll wear a dress that's not particularly fancy. You'll rarely find jewelery on Danny, aside from the Star of David on a necklace that was her mother's. She never parts with her Converse sneakers so long as she can help it.

Personality

Likes: boys (as friends for the time), her Converse high-tops, quodpot and sports in general, getting dirty, running - she's fast for a girl, listening to guitar, praying in private, reading, singing and dancing with her headphones on when no one's around, watermelon - absolutely addicted to it
Dislikes: keeping up her appearance, most girly things, girls - she only likes tomboys like herself for the most part, most healthy foods save watermelon and grapes
Quirks: Danny was raised in the orphanage mainly by her brother so she tends to be a bit manly and do things that guys would. Her brother taught her to play quodpot, the way he was taught by their father before he was killed.
Secrets:Danya aspires to be the Minister of Magic, or the female equivalent, some day.
She's really a bookworm at heart, yet she also loves to play quodpot.
Danny's cried herself to sleep countless times, thinking about her parents and how she never got to know them.
Strengths: Her brother's been training her to play quodpot since he got her walking. Danny has a photographic memory and can memorize passages and photos easily. Because of her brilliant memory, wand work and spells, hexes, and jinxes come easy to her and she's aces at dueling
Weaknesses: When students talk about going home to their parents, Danny often gets quiet and typically excuses herself from the conversation unless she's being made fun of for her parents' death, of which she takes great offense. Danya has a mild form of ADD and she's constantly in motion. She has a bad habit of doing things like biting her nails, tapping her foot, or drumming her pencil because of this and tends to get on her classmates nerves (most get used to it though). Danny runs on her own time schedule, which tends to get her into a lot of trouble with teachers. She never pays attention to the time and if she's one of those people that will be late to their own funeral.

Danya doesn't have the word 'no' in her vocabulary. She's easily stepped on by people and bossed around because she's never told anyone 'no.' Danny's used to being told no but she'd do anything for her true friends (and probably those she's not fond of as well, just for the sake of being her push-over self).
She's loyal to a fault most of the time and expects it in return from her friends. She holds people to their word and isn't particularly good at identifying liars because she doesn't lie about serious matter and expects people to do the same in return.
Boys don't really look at her and if one were to flirt with her, she wouldn't take them seriously which will cause problems for her in the future probably.

Detailed Personality: Danya isn't what one would consider a normal person. She has odd tendencies, comes off manly, and worst of all, has mild ADD. One would think that she's a big mess emotionally as well because of what happened to her parents but she's actually not. Danya tends to be the person that people go to to talk about their problems or to just have a friend in. She's an incredibly good friend despite not wanting to always be close to girls, although guys talk to her sometimes as well. Perhaps she's a good listener, or perhaps it's because she always gives feedback, but people like talking to Danny even if she may not like them. Danya would never tell someone that she doesn't like them outright though. If she was going to tell them at all, she would only hint towards it by slight criticism and 'issue-dropping' instead of being blunt about it.

Danya is very manly in many ways. She was raised by her brother for the most part so it was all she was taught and that was the only way she knew how to act because the girls in the orphanage didn't tend to stay there long enough so that she could learn something from them. You're more likely to find Danny horsing around with the guys on a field than in a bathroom freshening up and putting make up on. Not only does she hang out with guys constantly, but she also acts like them in that she's loyal to her friends and is often referred to as a little ball of fire. Danny has a strong spirit. She doesn't easily show weakness and if she does, it's to her pillow.

She has a few weird tendencies as well. Just like anyone, she has her good days and bad days and everything in between. Some days she's happy and perky, other days she's placid and pleasant. Things don't tend to really upset her unless someone's making fun of her or poking fun at the fact that her parents are dead. Danya, if pushed to the max over an issue, has no problem throwing a couple of punches either, even if it gets her in trouble. She was, after all, taught how to fight by her brother.

Love is hardly in Danny's vocabulary as well. She's awkward physically with guys when it comes to romance and she has a hard time expressing her feelings for guys if it's more than just a friendship. It's probably the one time that you'd see Danya blushing and stuttering like a fool.

History
Marishka and Yoel Zingel were married in 1985, in New York City. They had a relatively quiet life and decided to have their first child, Danya's older brother Ari, in the spring of 1990. Aside from the latest addition to the family, not much changed. Yoel worked as a doctor and Marishka was a botanist, creating a steady income and a stable living situation. Although both studied at Salem Academy together, they only used their magic in small amounts and lived among muggles peacefully. Five years after their son was born, they welcomed Danya into the world. They hadn't planned on having any more children, making Danya an 'oops baby' but that didn't make them love her any less or want her any less.

Despite having another child now, they still continued on with their quiet lives, in which their magic stayed hidden and their lives stayed calm and 'normal.' Yoel started teaching Ari about things that would be useful in his education later in life, in both the magical world and the muggle world. Yoel even went as far as to teach Ari all about quodpot, a family favorite, and a bit of quidditch.

In the summer of 1997 though, the Zingel family's comfortable life among muggles would be uprooted. As the war in Europe progressed and Voldemort started to acquire more supporters, Marishka's sister and brother-in-law, Meredith and Peter, joined his cause. After the Dark Lord learned of Marishka and her family, he ordered Meredith and Peter to recruit her and if her husband and her wouldn't join, to kill them. So when Meredith went to recruit Yoel and Marishka with her husband and they wouldn't join with her, Meredith and the others killed the two.

Within a week later, 7 year year old Ari and 2 year old Danya were placed in an orphanage, hidden from the wizarding world and protected until it would be time for them to learn all they needed. The money from the house and all of the possessions was placed in an account that Ari and Danya were to split when they came of age and almost all things were sold. Among the few that weren't sold were Marishka's jewelery, which was kept for Danya when she grew up, and some of the family's religious relics were kept because they practiced Judaism. The children were kept a watchful eye over by squibs that lived in the surrounding area that Marishka and Yoel had befriended.

Merideth of course tried to take Ari and Danya but after killing her brother-in-law and sister, she was eventually captured and thrown in the American equivalent of Azkaban. Ari and Danya grew up in the orphanage for the rest of their lives and went to muggle schools until Ari was accepted at Salem Academy, the summer of his 12th birthday. He didn't want to leave Danya in the orphanage by herself but he had no choice. The current headmaster sent a professor to gather him and his belongings so that he could get a proper wizard's education. During the summers he would return to the orphanage and tell Danny all about the school and quodpot, of which he had taught started teaching her to play in their free time at the orphanage. Ari let her look at his books and even try making a couple simple potions that wouldn't do much but produce a puff of smoke when thrown.

When it came time for Danya's turn to experience Salem Academy, the school that she heard so much of when she lived at the orphanage, she went. She didn't know what to expect because of all the stories she'd heard from her brother but she went with an open mind nonetheless. Danny didn't make friends there as easily as her brother had insisted she would - not with the girls anyways. The boys, though, took a liking to her but more of as one of the guys. She played sports with them and hung out with them more than any of the girls.

Unlike most of the girls her age, she's never had a boyfriend in all of her time at Salem. Danny's thought about it but she knows that none of the guys look at her that way as far as she can tell from the way they act around her so she pays no attention to it. Danya instead pays attention to her studies and fooling around with the guys, playing pranks and sports with them. She slowly made friends after coming and now, they're like her brothers. Dan would do anything for them if they asked and she expects they'd do the same.

Now that it's time for her to go off to Salem Upper Academy, she can't wait. She doesn't really know what house she'll be sorted into but Danny's been told that she'll be probably be in Osborn or Proctor. Either way, Danya really doesn't care which house she's in - she's more concerned about who she'll have to room with and if they'll get along.

Journal Entry:
Dear Diary,
The school's much different than I imagined it. I suppose it'll take some getting used to. I almost miss the orphanage because it's all I've known - it became my home - but Ari promised me it wasn't home. He promised me that if I gave Salem Academy a chance, it would become my home as well. I've trusted him my whole life and he hasn't led me wrong yet. Except for that time when he told me the moon was made of cheese. And that time he told me... I trust his judgment but I'm not sure about some of the people here. No one seems to like me. It's just like the orphanage here so far minus the draft and the food. I suppose I shouldn't be too judgmental yet considering I've only been her for a day.
Until Tomorrow,
-Danny

RP Sample:
Danny looked at herself in the mirror. "I look like a doofus," she said as she started pulling out the braids that her roommates thought were so incredibly adorable in her orange mane. Shaking out her hair, she tossed it from side to side and tossed it a bit to make it look like it normally did and smirked at her new reflection. She stopped though when she noticed the make up that they'd managed to sneak on her as well. Danny quickly grabbed her sleeve and wiped it all off. She pulled off the fashionable clothes they'd put on her and pulled on a pair of jeans, her Beatles t-shirt, and her favorite Converse high-tops.

Sauntering down the flights of stairs, she started for the door to the grounds. Danny noticed that her year mates were walking down the hallway towards the library. "That's the last time I let you near my face and hair!" Danny barked down the hallway at the other freshmen girls who were walking away from her, laughing.

Misc

Plot ideas you think we should know: As of right now, I don't have anything planned for her but to make friends and finally interact with kids like herself but down the road something might happen. I was thinking she might try to get involved in the war at some point when she learns what really happened to her parents though - she'll probably try to go after her aunt when she gets out of prison.
How did you find us?: A friend of mine that I used to roleplay with on livejournal saw your ad and thought it'd be fun if we both joined since we've been looking for another HP-themed community to play in. He'll probably be joining sooner or later.
What do you yell?: Bunnies
